Yeah, not really anything there but I can't speak for "Grand Bahama",

Nassau is way more happening as I know it personally. The west side of the Island is beautiful and awesome, I'm talking about native living and not tourists.
There were alot of haitian refugees mostly on the eastside which has a lot of bad pockets. It's funny how all the tourists spots are downtown on the east side though. The Bahamas has always had problems with Haitian, Cuban and Colombians illegally sneaking in the country since the 60's and using the place as a drug port to Miami unfortunately, though the Haitians have less of a hard time blending in I guess.

anyway, have fun, be safe.

Are you sure this is in The Bahamas?

Are you sure they didn't drop you off in Haiti and just tell you that you were in the Bahamas, LOL, I know every place has it's ghettos but why didn't you go to Cable beach? Paradise Island, Atlantis Resort, there are sooooo many beautiful spots in the Bahamas it's insane. I take it you know these people personally.

There are a ton of beautiful spots but those are just the tourist areas. And yes, I was working with the Haitian population which is definitely a minority and a discriminated against one at that. I was definitely in the Bahamas though! This is Grand Bahama Island which was pretty poor throughout most of it.

My point in being there wasn't to just see the pretty sights :) I'm all about experiencing the 'reality' of a country.
