Being in an airport is my favorite feeling in the world. It's as if everything is suddenly right and I am in control of it all. It's like suddenly finding three hundred dollars and knowing anything in a store is yours. The possibilities are endless. To me, an airport is the epitome of independence. I have French men to my right, flights leaving to NY to my left and a few connecting airlines to Japan across the room. I can get on a plane and experience any single country or culture I could come up with. I can jump on a plane to Australia, to Asia or to the Carribean... and the power is all mine. I am entirely in control of my location and, in turn, my life.
It sounds silly but I've never felt more alive than when I'm in an airport terminal. Everything I've ever wanted is in reach... right there... and I've decided on taking that move to the Bahamas this time. Next time it could be Tokyo or it could be NYC .. who knows.
It's my decision.
Always has been.
But the presence of jet fuel and uncomfortable airport chairs always has an intoxicating effect on me.
